Ted Jaleta (ja-let-a) was a leader from an early age, challenging accepted views and insisting that an education was the means to a better life for himself and others. Ted was on the path to becoming an Olympic-calibre long distance runner when his decision to publicly challenge land ownership rules in his home country of Ethiopia changed those plans. With a positive outlook, determination and hard work, Ted overcame many of the obstacles in his own life. He is sharing his message of how others can do the same in the new inspirational non-fiction book Never Give Up: Ted Jaleta's Inspiring Story by Deana Driver. This motivational biography follows Ted's journey from Africa to North America, sharing his trials, triumphs and optimistic outlook with all.

Never Give Up: Ted Jaleta's Inspiring Story receives Hollywood Book Festival and Saskatchewan Book Awards honours!
Never Give Up: Ted Jaleta's Inspiring Story was awarded Honourable Mention in the Biography/Autobiography category of the 2007 Hollywood Book Festival! The festival's annual competition honours books "worthy of greater attention from the film, TV and multimedia industries." The award was announced at a gala in Hollywood, California. JDC Productions publisher partners Ted Jaleta, Deana (dee-na) Driver and Peggy Collins are delighted by this acknowledgement of a wonderful Canadian story.
Never Give Up was also a finalist in two categories of the 2007 Saskatchewan Book Awards. The Publishing In Education category acknowledges the best educational book for primary through post-secondary levels, and the Reader's Choice category acknowledges the book chosen by readers as their favourite new Saskatchewan book! Never Give Up in school curriculums
JDC Production partners Ted Jaleta, Deana Driver and Peggy Collins are pleased to announce that the book Never Give Up: Ted Jaleta's Inspiring Story has been approved by Alberta Education for use in that province's Grade 10 to 12 Social Studies curriculum. Never Give Up is also being studied in elementary and high schools in Saskatchewan. English, Social Studies and English as a Second Language classes are enjoying reading and learning from Ted Jaleta's fascinating story. His focus on education, setting goals and working hard towards individual dreams has encouraged readers of all ages.
A Teacher Workbook to complement Never Give Up is in production and will soon be available through this website.

I was simply unable to put it down! It's a story any Canadian - immigrant or otherwise - should read and learn from; one that teaches in a profound way that any obstacle in life is nothing but a passing storm that could be over once you will it away.
I would like to congratulate you on an excellent book, by far one of the best books I've ever read, and I have read a whole lot. It is inspiring and so full of wisdom. I was raised in and left Ethiopia when I was fairly young and I am most thankful for how much of the Ethiopian history I have learned about from a very personal perspective. The emotions and nostalgia, yet the confusion about 'belonging' are in my daily thoughts and feelings. This book has helped me a whole lot to make peace with it all. Thank you very much! You're truly inspirational!

If you haven't read the book on Ted Jaleta, I would recommend it. Boy, when we think we have it rough, we need to just think of where he came from and the obstacles he has gotten over. Wow!
